How BackedBy Works

BackedBy helps you turn claims into structured evidence cards that can be shared, verified, and discussed.

1

State your claim

Write a clear, specific statement you want to back up with evidence. Good claims are:

  • Specific and measurable
  • Stated as a factual assertion
  • Limited to 100 characters for clarity

"Regular exercise can reduce the risk of depression by up to 30%"

2

Add your sources

Link to sources you would cite publicly. Each source is labeled by quality:

Primary

Original research, official documents, direct evidence

Secondary

Analysis, reporting, or interpretation of primary sources

Opinion / Anecdotal

Expert opinion, personal accounts, testimonials

1The Lancet Psychiatry (Primary)
2Nature Reviews (Secondary)
3

Set your confidence

Be honest about how certain you are. This is author-reported, not independently verified.
